Reviews
Everyone complained about the service and apparently they listened, because they are now counter-service! The Chatta bread app was delicious with the mole peanut sauce. I would, however, ask them to not use fish sauce as ours was a little heavy with it. The pineapple fried rice was also good, but the veggies could have used a little more seasoning. Also, there was so much food that it was easy to split between the two of us. Don't miss the Thai tea!
The best. Nothing else! They now have the Mexican sushi in a burrito!!!!! Best idea ever!!!!!!
This is a fun restaurant with a very different concept! Many dishes are a unique mix of Thai & Mexican cuisine, with delicious results. The decor imitated a fiesta, and it's loud, yet the dining room felt intimate. They also offer outdoor seating on their wide sidewalk. As a group of 8 on a Saturday night, we were told we'd have about a 30-minute wait for a table. However, we only waited about 15-20 minutes. Luckily, most of us had looked at the menu during our wait, as our server was brusque & ready to take our food order immediately. However, some of us had questions, and our impatient server left mid-ordering to help another table. While I thought that was unusual, one of our group recognized him as one of the owners, adding that this demeanor was typical, which a co-worker of mine echoed days later. After our server finished taking everyone's order, he brought out glasses of water for us, but we waited another 5-10 minutes for him to return & take our drink orders. I ordered sangria, and I found it bold & sweet - loved it! Hubs & I chose to split two dishes, one of which was actually their appetizer sampler. The other dish was the Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken, served mild. Portions were huge! Mild was almost too spicy for me, but it was still very good. Our appetizer sanpler included two each of fried wontons, fried spring rolls and lettuce chicken wraps. All three were delicious! The wraps were possibly my favorite, but very messy to eat. We enjoyed a great dinner & never felt rushed to clear the tables, even though we lingered. I'll definitely be back to try more of their unique menu.
I write this review base on the first encounter of the restaurant. 3.5 stars is about right for the first experience. The restaurant has unique way of Thai and Mexican cuisine. The also has some fusion of the two cuisine dish. I only have the experience on the Thai side. I will update when I try their fusion dish. This restaurant can heat it up the chili spiciness since they have the use of Mexican chili. If you like spicy food, look no further. It is sweaty hot. It also can go up a level to numb your lip. I have the basil spicy calamari. I have order the Thai hot. It did not disappoint me. This dish is wet sauce compare to some with dry sauce. It has good flavor. My friend ordered the fried rice. I think it need a bit hot oil burn and stir fried. Overall we like our time there. I like their watermelon boba. Close out is good and service is good.
I'll admit I was super skeptical of this place. First of all, Thai and Mexican food fusion??! I'm like, "What Asian pothead came up with that idea?" Second, the place is lacking any decent signage, so I didn't even know the name of this place until I got inside. However, they have this huge sugar skull on the window that was just staring at me and calling my name. It drew me in like a Mexican siren song. Regardless, I was feeling adventurous. Once inside, the place is clean with open seating, a community table and friendly staff. You order at the counter and they come and bring you the food. Hence, the "express" part. Pretty simple and easy. I wanted something that would give me a sense of this fusion concept, so I ordered the Chipotle Pad Thai with Tofu. NOTE: if you are vegetarian, choose carefully off the menu, as many of their dishes use fish sauce. Pad Thai is my favorite Thai dish and I'm not a huge fan of chipotle flavors but decided to give it a whirl. Honestly, this was probably the best version of Pad Thai I have ever had. It was an incredible blend of unique flavors I had never experienced before and yeah, the Thai Mexican thing really works. The smoky chipotle flavors worked really well with the spicy sweet pad Thai flavors. The dish was served with generous portions of protein. The ingredients were super fresh. Now, I'm hooked and can't wait to go back and try other dishes. My only criticism, is the restaurant marketing. The place is kind of hard to spot both physically and online. If you are the restaurant owner reading this, I will take a moment to shamelessly tell you I own a digital branding agency and would love to show you how to get your phone ringing. Shameless plug complete. Go support a local business, check this place out. If you like Thai food, you won't be disappointed.
